Coupang Riverside Fulfillment Center:
- 256,000 square feet of warehouse space
- Nearly 200 employees
- Ships tens of thousands of orders per day to South Korea and Taiwan, usually in 2-3 days

From New Jersey’s Karite shea butter hand cream to California’s Spread The Love organic, all-natural peanut butter, for U.S. companies selling their products in Asia through Coupang, the journey usually starts at the Coupang Fulfillment Center (FC) in Riverside, California, east of Los Angeles. There, a team of about 180 Coupang employees receives, warehouses, picks, packs and ships thousands of distinct products and American brands to consumers in South Korea and Taiwan.
The 256,000 square foot Riverside FC ships millions of orders per year. Despite the thousands of miles the goods must travel, Coupang is able to fill most orders within two to three days from the moment the customer in South Korea or Taiwan places their order. The FC is a key part of the company’s innovative technology and AI-driven global fulfillment infrastructure through which Coupang helped sell more than $5 billion in U.S. goods overseas in 2025, and in which the company has invested billions of dollars to build over the past 15 years.

A many-thousand mile journey
U.S. brands that sell in Asia through Coupang, the U.S.-based global ecommerce and digital services technology company, can choose to handle international shipping on their own, or they can opt to ship through the Coupang Riverside fulfillment center. Most sellers choose to let Coupang handle the logistics of international exports on their behalf.
The seller and the Coupang sales team work together to agree on initial levels of inventory based on expected sales, then the seller ships their product in bulk directly to the Riverside FC. From there, Riverside employees pack individual orders from the warehouse inventory, trucks transport packed orders to Los Angeles International Airport, the packages are flown directly to South Korea or Taiwan where they are ready to be routed to the customer’s location. Coupang manages most details and logistics of the process, from paying customs duties to ensuring compliance with export and import regulations on both sides of the transaction.
“The biggest thing for me is wowing our customers,” said Lance Kelly, FC Operations manager. “We work hard to make sure we’re packing items properly to prevent damage and that customers are satisfied and impressed with their purchases. I always remind our teammates, ‘You’re the last person to see this item before our valued customers open their packages – and that’s important.’ We see the results in our positive customer feedback.”

Building Coupang’s Riverside global fulfillment center from the ground up
Kelly has been at Riverside since the beginning in 2014. “When I showed up for my first day here, the place was empty,” said Kelly. “It was sort of scary just getting the key to open a door. I came to work in a blank warehouse. So just imagining what this place would turn out to be, and then working with the team to build the operation we have today, has been amazing.”
“I love everything that we’ve created here,” Kelly continued. “I’ve done every job in this place at different times, and I’ve seen so much growth with all the new U.S. sellers sending their products through here. It’s a great feeling.”

A strong commitment to employee safety
In addition to the Riverside FC’s strong focus on quality and efficiency, the team is fully committed to running an operation that is “safety-first.” The team is currently celebrating a zero recordable injury rate (RIR) so far in 2026.
“Safety is absolutely first in our culture,” said Debby Myers, HR director for the CFC. “For us, safety isn’t just a poster on the wall, it’s how we live and work every day – and our results show it. Everyone on this team has genuine care for our teammates, and our first priority is to make sure we’re a safe place for all our people to work.”

Building culture and community at the Coupang Riverside fulfillment center
The Riverside FC team is also very active in building ties with the local community. In 2025, the FC donated more than $1 million worth of food and household products to local charitable organizations. Following the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, the FC made an additional one-time donation of $700,000 in food and essential supplies to nonprofit organizations serving the victims. Among the organizations that benefit from the FC’s donations are Circle of Care, a community food bank in Riverside, as well as MilVet, a non-profit based in Murrieta, Calif., and the local chapter of Wounded Warriors, both of which support of members of the U.S. military community.
“We work hard here to build a culture of innovation, collaboration and community,” continued Myers. “We live Coupang’s leadership principles every day, with our primary objective being to “Wow the customer.” Every member of the team is encouraged to innovate and collaborate in the way we do our jobs. The work we do here for Coupang and our customers – and for the American companies that sell their products overseas with our help – makes us proud to go home at the end of the day and share with our families the exciting things we do here.”
