Coupang serves as a critical export engine for American businesses, enabling thousands of U.S. sellers – including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – to reach consumers across 190 countries and regions. We empower American sellers to participate in global commerce through comprehensive services, including customs facilitation, translation, payments, logistics, and customer support. This digital backbone enables billions of dollars in annual exports of U.S. goods and services and lowers barriers to entry for American entrepreneurs seeking to compete globally. AI Technology
Artificial intelligence, is a foundational technology that expands economic opportunity, strengthens global competitiveness, and enables businesses of all sizes to innovate and grow. By lowering operational barriers and improving efficiency, AI empowers SMEs to compete globally while enhancing the experience for Coupang’s customers and employees. Coupang integrates advanced AI, robotics, and automation—including Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs), intelligent sorting robots, and predictive logistics—to power a world-class, end-to-end commerce and fulfillment infrastructure. These technologies improve delivery reliability, increase operational efficiency, and reduce errors, while also enhancing workplace safety by automating repetitive and physically demanding tasks. By augmenting human capabilities, rather than replacing them, AI enables Coupang’s employees to focus on higher-value work requiring judgment, creativity and problem-solving. Given the lightning-fast pace of innovation, we believe it is critical that regulators take a light-touch approach to AI governance and remain flexible as technology advances. Though policymakers must safeguard against the risks of unconstrained AI development, overly proscriptive constraints could easily frustrate future innovations and unintentionally limit beneficial uses.
Sustainability
We believe in scaling with intention, leveraging our technology-driven model to minimize environmental impact and protect the planet for future generations. One of the most significant ways we advance this ambition is by cutting emissions throughout our operations. By streamlining our delivery network, we eliminate the need for consumers to make separate trips to the store for each order, reducing carbon vehicle emissions by more than 75%, based on our estimates. In 2024, Coupang nearly doubled our electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and pioneered low-carbon practices on Jeju Island in South Korea, where over 40% of deliveries now utilize EVs. From data-driven packaging that eliminates extra boxes to circular services like "Farfetch Second Life," we are committed to building every stage of the delivery chain more sustainably.
