East of Los Angeles, inside a massive 256,000-square-foot warehouse, about 180 Coupang employees spend their days connecting local American businesses to millions of customers across Asia. While the Riverside Fulfillment Center (FC) is best known for packing and shipping U.S. goods to South Korea and Taiwan in as few as two to three days, the real heart of the operation isn’t just measured in shipping speeds or export volumes — it’s measured in the impact made right in their own backyard.
For the team at Riverside, success is about more than world-class logistics; it’s about being a good neighbor.
Hands-on giving for local families and veterans
Over the years, the Riverside FC team has built lasting, deeply personal partnerships with local non-profit organizations that directly support surrounding families and the local military community.
In 2025 alone, the Riverside FC donated more than $1 million worth of food and household essentials to local charities. Then, when disaster struck during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, the Riverside team stepped up with an additional almost $100,000 emergency donation of food and critical supplies for affected families.
Among the team’s longest-standing community partners is Circle of Care, a Riverside-based food bank that distributes 1.5 million pounds of food every year. Since 2016, Coupang’s ongoing donations of staple pantry items have helped keep local families fed and supported during tough financial stretches.
“We can’t say thank you enough to Coupang. Those pantry items are so needed for our families,” said Terry Kime, co-founder and director of operations for Circle of Care. “It’s like Christmas every time the truck arrives. It’s just really nice for our families that are low income to feel like a normal American family — that they aren’t withheld from the little luxuries of life.”
The Riverside team also works closely with MilVet, a Murrieta-based non-profit dedicated to supporting active service members overseas and veterans at home. Coupang employees don’t just supply products like snacks and healthcare items for MilVet’s care packages — they roll up their sleeves and pack the boxes alongside volunteers, attaching personal letters of encouragement to service members deployed around the world.
“The entire team at Coupang is incredibly friendly, professional, efficient and amazing to work with,” shared Raven Hilden, CEO of MilVet. “We’ve been coming here for six years. It’s been an incredible partnership and relationship, and we are deeply grateful.”
The team also maintains ongoing donation efforts for the local chapter of Wounded Warriors, providing protein and nutrition products specifically tailored to help recovering veterans.
A workplace built on culture and heart
For the leadership team at Riverside, community involvement isn’t an afterthought or a corporate checklist item — it’s a core component of team culture and morale.
Operations Manager Lance Kelly, who opened the blank warehouse doors on his very first day back in 2014, views the facility less like a workplace and more like a tight-knit family.
“The people stay here because it’s a tight-knit and caring environment — it’s almost like a family,” Kelly reflected. “With our non-profit partners, it’s important because the people they serve are our neighbors, and they are in need. I’ve been to a couple of the events, and seeing the smiles on recipients’ faces and how much they appreciate it — it just helps out a lot with the community.”
Proud to serve — locally and globally
Every day, the Riverside team packs items bound for destinations thousands of miles away, helping small American businesses expand globally. But for the 180 employees who call Southern California home, knowing that their daily efforts also put food on local tables and support American heroes overseas makes all the difference.
As Myers puts it: “The work we do here for Coupang, our customers and our local community makes us proud to go home at the end of the day and share with our families the exciting things we do.”
