Yeo-jeong Park, 75, lives together with her husband of nearly 50 years in Suncheon. Her three children have long moved out to different cities, visiting when they can, though they haven’t been able to visit much lately due to the pandemic. Because Yeo-jeong has difficulty walking after undergoing several different surgeries, grocery shopping used to be one of her biggest daily challenges.
Although her husband helped out by going to the market on her behalf, Yeo-jeong felt sorry and uncomfortable for sending him out on errands so often, and worried that he would buy the wrong ingredients. She thought this was simply one of life’s inconveniences she had to accept, until her daughter introduced her to Coupang.
Yeo-jeong had never ordered anything online before, so she was understandably wary. However, her daughter encouraged Yeo-jeong to try, telling her that “It’s so convenient, even for you—don’t give up just because of your age.” Despite her concerns, Yeo-jeong finally relented and gave Coupang a shot.

“I was so happy when my first order arrived, and got confident after that,” said Yeo-jeong. “I love it. It’s so convenient, it really is. Coupang was like a replacement for my legs.”
Now, Yeo-jeong is a regular on Coupang, as is her husband, who joined after her. “I told him I needed pajamas, so he ordered them for me,” recalled Yeo-jeong. “When they arrived, I realized he bought matching pajamas for himself too. Our grandchildren laughed so much when they saw us,” she said with a smile.
To Yeo-jeong, Coupang has become an inseparable part of her life, and she hopes it will make the lives of other elderly adults easier as well. “Coupang is so easy to use, I don’t get why anyone wouldn’t use it,” said Yeo-jeong. “You shouldn’t be afraid just because you are old. Have a little courage and give Coupang a try.”
